In organic farming it is usually considered that pests (fungi, viruses, insects, bacteria, weeds, etc.) are overcome when one has balance between the plant and environment that surrounds it. Certain situations (wrong fertilizer, burying the collar of a tree, plants that are not grown directly from seed, incorrect pruning, stress, weather, etc.) create such a state of disharmony that the plants on the ground are abandoned by the Individual Principle of their Species - the spiritual principle linked to each family of plants that Spiritual science calls the "Group I". It goes without saying that this will necessarily distance the abandoned plant from the remaining plants and the plant world in general. The pests arrive at this stage. In this regard pests can be viewed as the dustbin men and road sweepers of Nature, and it is foolish to seek to remove these street cleaners, thinking them the cause, because they are only performing their function.

Our task, by contrast, will be to bring the plants back into line with their Group I by the approach and techniques of homeodynamic agriculture (or a rightly interpreted and applied biodynamic method), which works towards its objective through the use of homeodynamic and biodynamic products. We will see what spiritual science can add to improve our understanding of the phenomenon.
